« It is easy for us to criticize the prejudices of our grandfathers, from which our fathers freed themselves. It is more difficult to distance ourselves from our own views, so that we can dispassionately search for prejudices among the beliefs and values we hold. » (Peter Singer, Practical Ethics. Yes, I know he is talking about specism.)
National Youth Rights Day is today, organised by the NYRA (National Youth Rights Association), aiming for a less ageist world, lowering the drinking and voting age, and equal treatment under the law.
Hope the national Youths Right day sends to everyone the message about the importance of youth in the prosperity of acountry. Today's youth are tomorrow's citizens who are going to lead the nations. they should be taught a great deal of things that help in enforcing their duties efficiently later on in their lives.
A smalldoubt: What was it mentioned about lowering drinking age? Is it to encourage the vice of drinking?
On my blog: Have I achieved the real success- The success I have dreamt of
A motto about lowering the drinking age states that if you're old enough to go to war, you should be old enough to drink.
That is because if one thinks you're mature and responsible enough for such a thing as war, then one can assume you're mature and responsible enough to know how not to abuse alcohol.
Hope you had an agreeable Youth Rights Day (and April's fool day and religious days, too)
